TEXTS:
" SADNESS, nostalgia the clown SWEETBREAD’s father is deceased "
My father passed away on the 26th June 2001, at the age of 85. He was born on the 3rd November 1916 in Africa. He was a hunter, being the owner of an austrich and two domesticated cheetahs. His name is EDMUNDO GOMES DA SILVA and he was a very kind man. I am sure I feel his presence. I feel an energy which sometimes lasts entire days. It is a presence which can be translated in terms of energy as " LOVE ".
Since his physical death I have felt his presence four times (beware, this is not a ghost). I am sad and happy. It is once more, a wonderful gift he left to me. I wish to dedicate this mailart contest to him in his memory.
" CIRCUS/FIESTA "
The clown is a poet in action. He is the fiction he performs; Henry Miller, At the foot of the ladder.
SWEETBREAD is a mime clown coming from the " ball tradition " after a two-year training at the National Circus School of Annie Fratellini and from his initial mime training SWEETBREAD appearead, a modern clown. " Pain au lait "appears for theatres, schools, street festivities, employee commitees, in Nanterre University and works with SOL -en- SI - with seropositive children, since January 1997. SWEETBREAD’s makeup is red and white outlined with black (see website). He wears a large blue and checkered jacket with many pockets filled with surprises. A green shirt with small flowers and a blue hat outline sweetbrEAD’s elegance. Small linen pants with huge yellow clown shoes, and over his linen pants , an elegant transparent petticoat. SWEETBREAD is always absent-minded. He is always carrying a suitcase. SWEETBREAD’s pockets and suitcases are always filled with surprises. He wants to be each children’s unconditional friend. Clown SWEETBREAD lives with Eric ( a painter), Gata (the house cat), Pinouille (the rabbit) and the miniature pig " Rose- no -hair "(the latter freshly integrated in the small family, to recover from mourning.) Clown SWEETBREAD sometimes uses his animals in his shows. Circus is life! LET’S CELEBRATE LIFE!

Have you seen Elvis today? Don't understand? Open
your eyes to the Elvis references found everyday on
TV, in music, advertising, etc. I challenge
you.
Elvis seems to be a recurring theme in my art. Among other things, I create Elvis "sightings" using reflective tape. At night, when car lights hit these things, you suddenly see something for just a moment, and then IT'S GONE!!
What I ask is that you create whatever is your interpretation of an Elvis sighting and mail me some sort of "proof." This documentation can take any form: video, audio, photo, haiku, whatever...
And when you're done pass this on to your friends! Included with your proof please send your name (optional), date and location of sighting, and, if necessary, an explanation. If you'd like to find out how this ends or be put on a list for further projects, please include an e-mail or snail mail address.
Any questions should be emailed to: epsightings@yahoo.com
Mail your sightings to:

Send a fun, long-lasting piece of mail art to be woven/tied into a web to be woven on my land. A 3D (three dimensional) item is best. Keep in mind the sun is strong here and will fade things. Holes, tie-ons, or handles would be helpful.
Deadline-ongoing, documentation twice a year.
